Many people find the trip to Preikestolen the peak of their visit to Norway, Preikestolen is located 600 meters above sea level. If you come to Stavanger by train, plane or you live in Stavanger, there are many choices of public transport to travel to the starting point for the trip.

Two different bus companies will take you by coach to Preikestolen from Stavanger, Tau and Jørpeland.

Tide Bus runs every day during the period from 18.05.-18.09. Saturday / Sunday 02.04 to 16.05. and 23.09. - 25.09.

Both companies sell  tickets that includes bus and boat.


You have to take the challenge with 300 meters of ascent, climbing through a couple of canyons and dizzying cliffs, but otherwise you will experience a tourist-friendly path. And do not forget proper shoes. You should  estimate 4-5 hours for the trip in normal speed and spend some time at Preikestolen. From the Preikestolen you have a fairytale view over the mountains in Ryfylke which is like Norway in miniature. You look beyond theThe Lysefjordend and Frafjord moors,  Lysefjorden and all the way to Lysebotn.
